You may have heard a federal colleague say their agency got ChatGPT “for a dollar.” They weren’t exaggerating. Through GSA’s OneGov strategy, agencies can access OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise for $1 per agency, Anthropic’s Claude for $1 across all three branches, and Google’s Gemini for Government for $0.47 per agency. More than a dozen firms — Microsoft, xAI, Meta, ServiceNow, Broadcom, Snowflake, and most recently CORAS — have signed on. Whether or not you sell software, this changes your market.
What OneGov Actually Is
Launched in April 2025, OneGov treats the entire federal government as a single buyer to negotiate steep discounts on commercial software and AI, delivered through the GSA Multiple Award Schedule. GSA says it is now “building on the momentum of OneGov by extending agreements, expanding access to AI services, and laying the groundwork for scalable AI infrastructure across the federal government.” The July 28, 2026 CORAS deal, for example, offers agencies up to 80% off agentic AI tools.
Why It Matters for Small Firms
- Tool resale is commoditizing. If your value proposition was reselling access to commercial software, OneGov undercuts it. The margin is moving to integration, configuration, training, and mission-specific deployment — the services around the tool.
- The MAS is the AI front door. OneGov flows through the Schedule, so if AI-adjacent work is in your future, GSA Schedule access matters more than ever.
- Watch the expansion. GSA leadership wants OneGov to reach beyond software and is discussing letting vendors become direct MAS contractors — a signal worth tracking.
What to Do Now
Reposition around outcomes agencies can’t get from a discounted license alone: helping them actually deploy, secure, and get value from AI. Update your capability statement to speak “integration and adoption,” not “reseller.” The tools got cheap; the expertise didn’t. Brick by brick.
FAQ
Does OneGov shut small businesses out?
Not from the services around AI. It compresses the margin on reselling licenses, but it expands agency demand for the integration, training, and mission-deployment work small firms are well-positioned to provide.
How do agencies access these deals?
Through the GSA Multiple Award Schedule under the OneGov framework — typically starting with the agency’s IT acquisition shop or GSA’s OneGov team.
