After a multi-year process and at least 16 protests, NASA has awarded SEWP VI — the sixth generation of one of the federal government’s biggest IT acquisition vehicles (FedScoop, 2026; Federal News Network, 2026).
The numbers
NASA selected 1,490 vendors and made 2,115 awards across three categories, on a $60 billion vehicle with a 10-year ordering period running November 1, 2026 through October 31, 2036 (Federal News Network, 2026; Winvale, 2026). Category A covers the full range of IT, communications, and audio-visual products and product-based services; Category B covers enterprise-wide solutions like cloud and managed services (Federal News Network, 2026). To bridge the transition, SEWP V is being extended into 2027 (NASA SEWP, 2026).
Why small businesses care
SEWP is a product-heavy vehicle with socioeconomic set-aside coverage built into its structure, and its 0.34% fee is one of the lowest in the GWAC market (GovEagle, 2026). Even if you didn’t win a prime spot, SEWP primes can sell through authorized resellers — so teaming with an existing prime is a legitimate path onto the vehicle while you build the past performance for a future bid (GovEagle, 2026). The solicitation also contemplates future on-ramps (Federal News Network, 2026).
The bigger trend
SEWP VI arrives as the administration consolidates governmentwide contracting — GSA is moving to absorb vehicles like SEWP and NIH’s CIO-SP (FedScoop, 2026). Translation: fewer, bigger front doors. Getting positioned on the ones that survive matters more than ever.
What to do now
If you sell IT products, identify SEWP VI primes in your lane and open teaming conversations before the vehicle goes live November 1. If you’re a prime awardee, get your catalog and reseller relationships ready. And either way, watch for on-ramp windows. Brick by brick.
FAQ
Can I still get on SEWP VI if I didn’t win a prime spot?
Not as a prime right now, but you can sell through an authorized-reseller relationship with a SEWP prime, and watch for future on-ramps (GovEagle, 2026).
When does it start?
The ordering period begins November 1, 2026; SEWP V is being extended to bridge the gap (NASA SEWP, 2026).
